Windows Live Messenger 2011 Review
Everyone knows about Windows Live Messenger. It comes preloaded on your PC with every copy of Windows XP. Some people don't like Windows Live Messenger and have opted to install the latest version of Yahoo messenger or similar instant messaging programs instead.
However, for the people who had a bad go at the original Windows Live Messenger, the previous one, this software has been completely redesigned and redeveloped. Windows Live Messenger 2011 is now much more interactive. It allows you to use all your favorite social networking sites and use the instant messaging feature at the same time. However, this software development process has come with some drawbacks. Firstly, the ability of Windows Live Messenger 2011 to update the status of your friend is set at about 10 minutes between updates. This means that if you want the instantaneous action of live chat through Facebook and similar sites, there is no possibility of that. You are limited to updates to those sites every 10 minutes, instead of right away like you would get at the sites themselves.
WIndows Live Messenger 2011 is part of the Windows Live Essentials software package. Up until now, Windows Live Messenger has gone through 15 different updates and revisions to the software. There are new emoticons, all the chats are grouped together in one window and the major inclusion of social networking integration is among the latest developments. Like it or not, Windows Live Messenger is still one of the most used instant messaging programs in the entire world and the better they make this program, the easier it will be on all of us. You can't remove Windows Live Messenger without a lot of difficulty.
All in all, the updates to Windows Live Messenger 2011 are substantial enough to warrant the new download and installation. You can have all of your instant messaging sites and conversations in just one window, eliminating the troublesome process of switching between conversations. This software is both fun and effective at carrying on instant messaging conversations, even though it could use some improvements.
Thankfully, Windows Live Messenger is in a continual process of self improvement. It never ends. This means that the next release of this popular software may have all the bugs fixed and allow us to continue our instant messaging lives at a higher level of throughput. You can do it, Microsoft, we think you're onto something and we can't wait to see what you come out with next!
MSN Messenger 9.0 Review
The latest MSN Messenger is an evolved IM client with many improvements over the previous versions, and many new exciting features added,
such as folders and files sharing among your contacts. Windows Live Messenger also offers over 80 standard emoticons,
free multiplayer games, free computer-to-computer calling, SMS mobile phone text messaging, and video conferencing.
In addition, new VoIP feature allows users to call any phone worlwide for a fee; however, it does not allow inbound calls.
Installation process for MSN Messenger is quick & easy, but the advanced features come with a hefty price tag: similar to most modern dedicated IM clients, the program requires a lot of PC resources, such as memory and disk space.
The Sharing Folders functionality allows users transfer files between contacts by displaying a mirror of your files in the IM window. Users can paste or even drag and drop several files into the IM window or Sharing Folder, and the files can also be accessed offline at a later date.
MSN Messenger users can easily create custom online identities for themselves through personalized display pictures, backgrounds and emoticons. They also can share more content with their friends, play live online games, send pictures to other users, or share animated emoticons.
Moreover, MSN Messenger now allows users to connect with each other in cool, innovative ways, via video, mobile phones or PDAs.
Those IM users who feel like the generic interfaces and a shortage of personalization constrains their online identity, can use the new MSN Messenger features that really let one express their individuality.
New set of 80 standard emoticons allows users to express their feelings graphically through a variety of animated images, such as birthday candles, crying tears and barking dogs.
MSN Messenger also can allow users to go even further by easily creating personalized emoticons from any custom image they create or upload.
MSN Messenger also introduces innovative functionality that allow users to:
- Choose a personalized background from an array of default images, such as cartoons, sports or worldwide locations; or create their own backgrounds from any photo or logo; and then share those background themes with their friends
- Select customized display pictures of anything, such as animals, celebrities or other pictures to represent themselves in the IM window and MSN profiles
- Choose from more than 150 default fonts and 16 colors to represent their personal style
- Save any IM conversation to their computer through easy message logging
