AIM 1/2: An Innovative Communication System by AOL

AOL instant messenger or AIM is an instant messaging service that is used by millions of people worldwide. AIM is available free of cost and you can download this innovative communication application on your desktop computer or laptop for chatting. However, many AIM users have been found complaining about the long menu, ads and pictures slowing down the instant messenger. To cope up with this problem and obviously to retain their present consumer base, AOL launched a new program - AIM 1/2.

AIM 1/2 is very different from the previous versions. It is more user-friendly. It has got rid of advertisements and those useless buttons on the bottom of the buddy list. The buttons in AIM windows are also removed. The short menu list now contains what you need. AIM 1/2 also allows users to resize their contact list to any size.

Skinning is yet another interesting feature of the AIM 1/2. Skinning allows users to change the look of their AIM. As an AIM user, you can select the theme of your sign-in screen, sign-off, away symbols, contact list background and the pop-up notifications. Currently, AIM 1/2 has five skinning themes: XP, Beach, Everyone Loves Raymond and Music. The theme can be changed easily whenever the user wants. To facilitate an easy change, a button is provided at the contact list menu. Users can also visit the AIM 1/2 site for replacing the existing theme with a new and attractive one.
